The creation of Mutual Heights was followed by the redevelopment of nearby Cartwright’s Corner as an apartment building. Like in Mutual Heights, apartments sold rapidly – all within five months – at prices from R300,000, to up to R6m for penthouses. Resales are steady, and investors have seen excellent capital growth.

In 2006, the Old Mutual Property Cartwright’s Corner project, with Neil Gardner leading the development team, was runner up in the refurbishment category in the annual SA Property Owners’ Association (SAPOA) awards for development excellence.
